Das Alpentour 2008

Waitangi weekend saw us once again visiting Hanmer Springs Alpine Resort for the Das Alpentour Volkswagen weekend. Rob and the kids travelled up in the Kombi on Friday afternoon in a blustery Nor' Wester, that combined with the hills, a too far advanced ignition timing (which we fixed in Amberley) saw some slow travel initially, but things turned for the better after Weka Pass, as the weather prepared to turn Southerly :(
Friday night brought a light rain and finh 'n' chips for tea. Saturday morning was overcast, but perfect for driving not being too hot (like Friday's 34 deg. C). We convoyed up to Mt Lyford and had lunch at the lodge. The kids didn't bring enought o wear to the higher elevation (or was that Dad not looking after them...)
Saturday night was a low key affair of BYO BBQ and few timely beers to go with the talk and socializing.
On Sunday Rob got to go for a ride on his mountainbike, and hit four different trails before meeting up with the rest of the family at the hot springs.
